Ambassador Baer Statement on Afghanistan Declaration

U.S. Mission to the OSCE - Vienna, Austria

I would also like to join you in thanking our distinguished Canadian colleague for her efforts to shepherd this through.

We welcome the adoption of this declaration. It underscores the Organization’s commitment to contributing to Afghanistan’s success as it navigates ongoing transitions.

Mr. Chairman, as the distinguished Ambassador of Canada has pointed out, it is good that all 57 participating States agreed on the paramount importance of the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and national unity of one of our Partners for Cooperation. We wish that participating States would also uphold their commitments to the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and national unity of other participating States.

Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
