U.S. on Attack on EULEX in Kosovo

U.S. Department of State - Washington, D.C.

We condemn the attack against the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in which a Lithuanian EULEX staff member was killed. We extend our condolences to the family of the victim and his injured colleague. There is no space for violence, threats and intimidation in today’s Kosovo. We urge all parties to work constructively together to investigate those responsible for this crime and to bring them to justice. We join High Representative Ashton in calling for a redoubling of efforts in implementing the agreements already reached and for the continued normalization of relations to improve the daily lives of all the region’s citizens, including through free, fair and inclusive municipal elections in Kosovo scheduled for November 3.
