Embassy Sarajevo Illuminated in Rainbow Colors for IDAHO

Embassy Sarajevo was illuminated in rainbow colors from dusk till dawn the evening of May 17 in honor of the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO). This was the first time the Embassy has been illuminated in support of a policy issue since the New Embassy Compound was opened in 2010. The Embassy also worked with local LGBT rights groups in BiH to share their outreach materials via social media and signed on to a joint international community letter about LGBT rights. Finally, Ambassador Moon recorded a video for Sarajevo Open Centre’s campaign “Everyone Should Be Able to Kiss Whomever They Want”, joining local political, media, and education leaders calling for respect for the human rights of LGBT people. USAID organized and funded the illumination project.
