Election Events: U.S. Embassy in Dublin, Ireland

On Wednesday, November 7, U.S. Embassy Dublin hosted a Breakfast Event to greet the incoming presidential election results at the Westin Dublin Hotel. Ireland’s most listened to morning news show, “Morning Ireland,” was broadcast live from the event. “Ireland AM” which is the country’s only televised breakfast show broadcast some live segments from the event, including an interview with our Chargé d’affaires John Hennessey-Niland. Over two hundred guests were invited including those from the business, political, media and education arenas who have a stake in U.S. – Irish relations. Also in attendance were members from both the Democrats and Republicans Abroad. Both the acceptance and concession speeches were relayed for guests. The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin hosted the Embassy’s Election Night viewing party on the evening of Tuesday, November 6th. Over 1,400 people – including most of the Irish Parliament and Senate; key business, cultural and arts contacts; and members of the general public –congregated to watch the results display across three projection screens erected for the night.
