Allegations reported in the media that the Department of State’s 2011 International Religious Freedom report criticized regulations governing visitation to, and worship at, the Temple Mount/Haram al Sharif are a mischaracterization. The report factually describes long-standing policies that govern visits to, and worship at, the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif site. The report does not represent a recommendation to change those policies.
