USAID’s Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG) Forum

About the Forum

USAID’s Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG) Forum will be convened at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from June 21-22, 2012. This two-day event will bring together government officials and international experts in the field of democracy, human rights and governance.

The theme of the DRG Forum is Advancing the Dignity Agenda: New Approaches to Protecting Human Rights and Expanding Democratic Participation and will focus on the promotion of human dignity in the wake of the Arab Spring, atrocity prevention, political participation of women and girls, and government transparency, among other issues. We will also be sharing content on our Facebook and Twitter accounts, and taking questions from the online community via Twitter. Use #DRGForum.

About the Workshop

The DRG Forum will be followed by a DRG Workshop June 25-27, 2012. USAID’s Center of Excellence on Democracy, Human Rights and Governance will convene DRG Officers from USAID Missions to share challenges, experiences, and knowledge from the field and discuss approaches to enhancing USAID’s DRG assistance worldwide.

The theme for this year’s workshop is Enhancing DRG Assistance: The Learning Organization in Practice and will feature an innovative “Communities of Practice” approach to enhance the learning capacity of all participants through sessions that focus on dynamic interaction and knowledge sharing.
